Clean Water for Kuande

The need for fresh, clean water continues to be at the forefront of our efforts, even as the world struggles to manage the most significant health crisis in history. In Kuande, where resources are sparse the people live a totally hunter, gatherer existence. They rely on the local creek for water even though is polluted and unhealthy. We are working to bring clean water to the forgotten communities in Kuande by placing and/or repairing wells in each remote village.

Our Kuande well project currently has over twenty wells dug or refurbished covering the entire tribal area of Kuande and impacting over 30000 inhabitants who now have clean, potable water. We are seeking additional donations to extend the number of wells in the region.  Pictured is the distant river water previously utilized by the community (left) and the water pulled from the new ground-water well located within their village (right). The villagers now have close and reliable access to water and reduced exposure to disease caused by water borne pathogens in the river water.

Medical Supplies for Haiti and Ukraine

This project illustrated the power of making the right connections. After the devastation of natural disasters, countries like Haiti were in desperate need of medical supplies. Several organizations saw that need and worked to make it possible for areas in Central America to receive the needed donations but they were slow in coming and in short supply.

In the United States, local hospitals and medical practices were having the opposite challenge – they had a surplus of supplies that they could not use that were bound for the landfill. The Turo Foundation was able to collect the unneeded medical supplies in one location and send large shipments to the organizations that could get them in the hands of those in need in Haiti and Ukraine. 

Donations are currently be collected to fund our next project. We are currently securing another well project in a different region of Africa and hope to have more information soon.
